Description : An awesome map with TONS of secrets and immense strategic value. Check out our website for secrets and more screenshots!

Hegemony Readme

Welcome the first map created by Acrysoft Studios! We are an amateur mod team with tons of potential. Admittedly, this map lacks a little in the visuals, with things like messed up textures and terrain, and cheesy particle effects to cover them up. However this map has a lot of strategy to it. Also, there are TONS of secret (invisible) teleporters which will teleport you to various different parts of the map, including some that are otherwise inaccessible. Just a note: Every vehicle on the map CAN be reached!

A small hint:
You can't go camping without a campfire...

If you can't figure out the secrets for yourself (or are just too lazy), check out our official website (under construction) at http://www.acrysoft.i8.com where we'll have instructions on how to reach our secrets and screenshots to help you find them!

Features

All game types supported
Recommended 2-8 players
Flashbang grenades (tags courtesy of t3h_lag)
An entire secret base
10 Secret teleporter sets
20 Starting points (10 per team)
4 Warthogs
5 Ghosts
3 Banshees
1 Scorpion (If you actually manage to find it, know that it is unbalancing and only intended as an easter egg (along with the campground, unless you can have a few people take it out with grenades)

General Strategies

Since one of the flags is at the end of a long tunnel, the key to victory is to hold the entrance to the tunnel.
Another key point is the other flag, for reasons that may not be as apparent as you might think...
There is a rocket launcher and a sniper rifle in the "forest" area that is on a higher level. The rock wall right by it can be climber by jumping from one rock to the other. There are better ways to get there, but you'll have to find them for yourself... (Or check our secrets section).
In CTF games, if you loose control of the entrance to the tunnel, and the flag in the tunnel is your own, make a break for the enemy flag. Chances are it will be under-defended. If you have the enemy flag, they cant score. As soon as you get it, take it to secret base if you know where it is, as it will be easier to defend. This strategy works great in 2-4 player CTF games.
A word to the wise dont try to be too cheap in the beginning you might get a surprise if you try to go for a particular weapon
A nice strategy is to blind/stun your opponent with a flashbang, and then zero-in for the kill. In games with infinite grenades, this is can get really crazy (in a good way).

Known Bugs

One of ladders is not completely functional. It can be tricky to climb it, but it can be done by crouching and then jumping.

Hegemony Backstory

UNSC High Command
Office of the Hegemony

"Sir, I have the daily report on the affairs down on the planet. I regret to inform you that our outpost on Zeta Reticuli Beta is out of contact. We have received no communications from them in the last 24 hours,"

The Hegemon didn't even attempt to hide his anger this time. "And why is this the first time Im hearing of this, you incompetent fool! I should have been notified the very instant that the Brigadier General failed to issue his hourly scans! Idiot!"

The Lieutenant Colonel shifted visibly at the rage of the Hegemon, whose rage had been known to cause the demise of many a lowly fledgling. "I apologize my liege, but I feared the tedious nuances and issues in search for life on Zeta Reticuli Beta was too insignificant to bother you with and-"

"Twenty-four hours! You let this go on for an entire day! You supposed that the sudden disappearance of the Brigadier General in charge of the SETI's Zeta Reticuli campaign from our com units was a regular occurrence?! A "nuance"?! Don't you understand the significance of this?" But of course he didn't, thought the Hegemon. That was the trouble with having people with such low security clearances working for the Hegemony.

"Significance? But sir... everyone knows SETI is just a group of crackpot exobioligists who believe theyre going find life on some other planet. Lord knows they'd fit in better there than here. The only reason the UNSC grants SETI any funding is to make those damn Space Hippies happy. And they only do that to prevent secession, The Hegemon simply stared at the Lieutenant Colonel. He had forgotten how far he outranked his subordinates. Of course, this fool of an officer wasnt entirely wrong. The UNSC had, in fact, established SETI to prevent the secession of the more radical Space Hippies, as they were so commonly referred to. It prevented a major civil war between the Human Supremacists and the UNAAAP, the United Nations Associations for the Advancement of Alien People. Every time he thought of the situation, the Hegemon was reminded of the cover storys eerie resemblance to early pre-UNSC Terran history. But that wasnt the real reason SETI was existed, and still continues to, despite a long track record that had lasted a few hundred years of little to no results. SETI was actually a cover-up for the military's top secret Mjolnir operations. Not only does the military get to subjugate Terran citizens to unspeakable and unconstitutional horrors in the name of research, they satisfy most of the citizens by sending the message that they're searching for ET and not trying to make sure they can kill him. But of course theres no way a lowly Lieutenant Colonel could have known this. The activities on Zeta Reticuli Beta were on a need to know basis, and this officer had no reason to be endangered with more knowledge than he needed.

The Hegemon did what he always did in situations like these. It was so practiced, so second nature, that he barely even realized what he was saying until he was half done. Congratulations, officer! Your skills and efficiency as an officer have just been tested, and you have passed without question. You have been granted a promotion, and have earned the rank of full Lieutenant! You are to report to the Furors office on Earth in two weeks to accept your official transfer to Central Command. It has been an honor serving with you, and I hope you will find happiness, Far, far away from here, where you cant cause anymore trouble, thought the Hegemon. What truly bothered him was that the Brigadier General always sent in the reports from his hourly scans. Missing an entire day could only mean one thing: an attack by the Covenant.

UNSC High Command
Office of the Hegemony

The covenant elite walked calmly through the corridors of the Hegemonys former command center. He had ingested a large amount of a substance that he had found in a Marines locker which had thought was food. Time seemed to slow, and everything was calm so calm. The locker had belonged to a marine with the rank of Lieutenant, and it seemed as though he had just gotten a raise in compensation, or promotion as the humans called it. This human had blown it all on the substance the elite had appropriated. It wasnt really a crime; the human lay dead at his feet like the disgusting filth they are. Carbon based, and two thirds water! What inferior creatures! They were easy prey, barely able to see through the active camouflage he had worn during the invasion. The humans did have one redeeming quality though. Whatever this marijuana stuff was, they sure knew how to make it. Maybe I should ask the Arbiter to keep a few humans alive to make some more of this stuff. The elite pondered that idea for a while, than dropped it. He simply didnt care. Nothing seemed to matter. They had taken the Office of the Hegemony, and the war was almost over. They were winning, and the humans didnt stand a chance. Most of them didnt even know there was a war going on. But for some reason, the covenant elite had a nagging feeling in the back of his cranial implants that everything wasnt quite right. But that didnt matter now... He still had some of the marijuana left.

The Hegemonys Address to the United Nations of Earth and all Space Colonies
Approximately 28 Years Ago
Two Months After the Attack on the Hegemony

Friends, Terrans, Countrymen! Listen to my words, and take them into your heart! Heed my warnings, and perhaps you will survive. As you may already know, the office of the Hegemony was attacked by an unknown force a few months ago, The Hegemon hated having to lie to the entire world like this, but it came with the job. I barely made it out alive, and until we can identify the source of this aggression, it is the decision of the Hegemony to make passage through the Zeta Reticuli System against interstellar law. This is for your own safety, and the ability of our scientists to conduct their research without swarms of curious civilians flocking to see the damage. Any existing trade routes that travel through this system must submit a revised course which steers at least 20 light-years from the systems, NO exceptions! Any unidentified or unregistered ship in that vicinity will be fired upon on sight! You may view a complete copy of the revisions to the Zeta Reticuli Policy in any public library, and I encourage all citizens to post a copy of this notice in plain view in their households, so that no unnecessary accidents occur. Thank you for your attention, and if you will excuse me, I must organize the fleet of scientists and researchers we will be sending in-system,

Finally. Its over. The guilt was already starting to sink in. The Hegemon had learned to live with it, but he was only human after all. He was stirred from these thoughts rather abruptly however by his first officer. Sir! Why was I not informed of the fleet of scientists going in-system to Zeta Reticuli? I did not have time to make the necessary arrangements for transport. It will take approximately 16 hours, 27 minutes, 42--

Thats enough! You know damn well that there will be no fleet of scientists! We are launching a counter-offensive to take back the Office of the Hegemony! Ill be damned if Im going to let a god damn alien sit in my desk, smoke my cigars, and drink my alcohol! That job is reserved for me, the Hegemon of the UNSC!

But sir, how can you hope to fight off such a superior force, with so few marines left alive?

I dont.

But I dont understand--

Send in the Spartans!
